<title>Kappa Nu Sigma Operation Big Book Bag</title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;Sorors of Kappa Nu Sigma, Epsilon Phi, and Omicron Rho joined forces with The Los Angeles Sentinel, The Brotherhood Crusade, and Mothers-In-Action, at the 12&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; Annual Health &amp;amp; Family Festival. Sorors provided school-aged youth with scholastic care packages filled with tools for learning, and provided one-on-one presentations on the importance of education, especially as it pertains to &lt;em&gt;higher&lt;/em&gt; learning. Thousands were served at this back-to-school fair which provided referrals, information, and services that addressed the physical health, nutritional health, and academic state of inner-city youth. This event featured live inspirational entertainment, 102.3 The Beat, celebrities, local politicians, and the news media. &lt;p&gt;Members of TES passed out Focused Drive Pledges&amp;nbsp;to college students and focused on the importance of driving safely.&amp;nbsp; We focused on the dangers of distracted driving, particularly as it related to the use of cell phones and texting, while raising awareness to minimize distractions.&amp;nbsp; Also throughout the week, members of TES displayed materials in central, high-traffic locations at work and during their leisure.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Epsilon Chi Sigma Chapter Hattie McDaniel Breast Cancer Awareness Event</title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Epsilon Chi Sigma Chapter--Hattie McDaniel Breast Cancer Awareness Event&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On October 2, 2010, the elegant ladies of Epsilon Chi Sigma spent an afternoon hosting an inflammatory breast cancer awareness presentation to young ladies living at Camp Scudder, a Probation Camp for girls. The presenter, Soror Komman Seray McDowell, is an inflammatory breast cancer survivor of five years and the founder of Komman Seray McDowell Inflammatory Breast Cancer Foundation.&amp;nbsp; Her presentation to approximately 47 young ladies between the ages of 14 to 18 years old was delivered with such enthusiasm, that many of the young ladies in attendance continued to asked questions eager to learn more. Soror McDowell spoke about the common signs and symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer such as, breast swelling, which is usually sudden with one breast becoming much larger than the other, itchy breast and &amp;nbsp;breast feeling pain and warm to the touch.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Soror McDowell was introduced by Epsilon Chi Sigma Basileus, former Western Region Syntaktes, Soror La Tonya Nelson, who formerly worked at Camp Scudder. After the presentation, many of the young ladies in attendance were curious about Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and its programs and were welcomed by the members of Epsilon Chi Sigma to browse the display table. This event was a great success and members were very pleased with the overall presentation of the day.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
