Demystifying the Stigma of Black Women’s Health

Speakers with a background in self-care, fitness, nutrition, mental health, and environmental justice will discuss topics in which misconceptions and misinformation have influenced the overall holistic health of black women. The information gleaned is helpful for a diverse audience to improve competencies in health care, fitness, and black hair care.   

The planned event directly addresses two national Sigma Gamma Rho Women’s Wellness goals: 

o Encourage women to maintain a healthy lifestyle and minimize health risks  

o Empower women to make informed decisions about their physical, mental, and emotional health
